Kozhikode: Vehicles are being forcefully stopped and the public threatened in several parts of the state on a fake call for hartal. Buses were forcefully blocked and shops were forcefully shut after fake news on hartal was widely spread through social media. The fake information circulated read that a 24 hour hartal will be observed on Monday to protest the Kathua rape and murder case. Vehicles were stopped and people threatened in the northern districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. The National Highway was blocked in some parts. But the hartal supporters are not united under any association and couldn’t account, who initiated the call for hartal.
